Level 1

Functional Training Coach

Functional Training Coach - Next date: October 4 and 5 2025

Duration

Level 1 is a 16-hour in-person training course held over 2 days. It includes 8 hours of theory and 8 hours of hands-on practice. It’s our “intro” level certification.

Target audience

Level 1 is designed for participants with little or some experience in functional training

  • training enthusiasts looking to develop their skills for personal knowledge and/or to eventually become coaches
  • coaches who want to add or sharpen their functional training expertise
  • health professionals looking to better understand their patients through improved knowledge of training
  • physical educators wanting to integrate functional training into their classes
Objectives
  1. Understand the muscles involved in each major movement and how they function
  2. Learn to perform and analyze the main functional training exercises
  3. Build the skills to adapt and individualize exercises based on participants’ fitness level and body type
  4. Be able to design a basic workout session combining strength and cardio methods

Level 1 certification qualifies you to work as a functional training coach in a fitness centre

Cost $599 +tax

Level 1 completed

You earn Level 1 by completing both full days of training. A certificate will be issued to confirm your achievement.

*Depending on your experience, you may request to move directly to Level 2.

Level 2

Specialized Functional Training Coach

Level 2 certification is a 32-hour training course, delivered in person over 4 days, spread across 2 different weekends./p>

One weekend focuses on functional strength training, and the other on cardiovascular conditioning.

Functional Strength Training & Training Methods Module – Next date January 2026

The Level 2 Strength Training & Training Methods module is a 16-hour course, delivered in person over 2 days.

Target audience

Level 2 is intended for participants with more advanced knowledge of functional training.

  • enthusiasts who have completed Level 1 and want to further develop their skills for personal knowledge and/or to eventually become coaches
  • coaches and kinesiologists looking to expand and refine their strength and cardio training knowledge to apply it in a functional training setting
  • health professionals with some experience who want to take their knowledge to the next level

The Level 2 Cardiovascular Training & Planning module is a 16-hour course, delivered in person over 2 days.

Target audience

Level 2 certification is intended for participants with more advanced knowledge of functional training.

  • Practitioners and enthusiasts who have completed Level 1 and wish to further develop their skills in this area for their own personal knowledge and/or to eventually become a coach.
  • Coaches and kinesiologists who want to add to and/or improve their knowledge of strength training and cardiovascular training in order to apply it to functional training.
  • healthcare professionals with some experience in the field who wish to take their knowledge to the next level
Objectives
  1. Deepen your understanding regarding each of the energy qualities
  2. Be able to use the different training variables and apply them in the design of a cardiovascular training program.
  3. Be able to design combined training sessions using the principles of cardiovascular training.
  4. Learn how to perform and analyze different motor patterns related to cardiovascular performance (running, rowing, cycling, skiing).
  5. Build the skills to adapt and individualize these exercises based on your participants’ fitness level and body type

Expert Functional Training Coach

Level 3 consists of 5 days (40 hours) of training, each focused on a different theme.
